Public Talk: The Current Landscape for Digital Humanities

Please join us for a Brown Bag Presentation: “The Current Landscape for Digital Humanities” by Dr. Michael Newton.

This talk will explore the current landscape for Digital Humanities, and how UNC is positioned to contribute to the field over the next five year.

Dr. Newton holds a Ph.D. in Celtic Studies from the University of Edinburgh, and a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego. His professional experience straddles the humanities and technology/IT worlds. He was an Assistant Professor at St. Francis Xavier University in Celtic Studies, and was a software engineer for an NEH-funded project to produce Finding the Celtic, an experimental online digital humanities collaboratory for Celtic Studies. He has just produced a new DH prototype: Celtic Poets in North America.
