Symposium: Semaphore

November 4, 2012 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The annual Semaphore symposium, showcasing student and faculty work related to media and technology. Food and drink will be provided. Please RSVP to eah13@mac.com.

About Semaphore

Semaphore is new consortium of graduate students and emerging scholars interested in technology and media studies. The primary goal is to foster a diverse and cohesive intellectual and social community for media and technology scholarship throughout the Triangle-area.

Funded by a Kenan-Biddle Grant, Semaphore provides an open and ongoing venue for emerging media and technology scholars to share ideas and resources. Students may propose working groups over the course of the year, meet new colleagues at one of our get-togethers, teach (or take) a technical workshop, or help plan a Fall 2012 symposium showcasing graduate student work in the Triangle area.

While many exciting labs and working groups already meet at Duke, UNC and NC State, Semaphore is unique in bringing together young scholars from all three institutions across a wide range of disciplinary interests. Semaphore is also entirely student-led, with its projects being determined by the needs and intellectual interests of its members.
